about me

Hi, I’m Jessica(she/her)!

Jessica is a self proclaimed #birthnerd, childbirth educator, doula, photographer, filmmaker and wearer of many hats. My passion for supporting families started several years ago in grad school. I was studying Public Health and partnered with a LOCAL NON-PROFIT IN INDIA. Along with a group of community health workers, we came up with a plan to help improve maternal and infant survival. If you ever want to get together over chai or an Indian buffet I’d love to tell you all about it!

When I returned to Kentucky, my hubby found out he got a job in Central IL. So I graduated on Saturday, we loaded up the U-haul and moved on Sunday! I found myself in the middle of the Prairieland with no friends, no research and no connection to the community. I missed working with mamas as they prepared for their little ones and lived life on call as a doula for over 10 years. Being a doula gave me the opportunity to see women transform into a powerful force they didn’t know they contained and soften into the role of mother soon after.

Many moons ago, I studied documentary photography at Columbia College Chicago and decided to start bringing my camera along to births, prenatal and postpartum visits. Watching people go through this transformation is an honor. There are so many tender moments of connection and healing that tell your story.
